Attic Dusting with Delta Dust
Most pest control treatments stop at the ceiling. The problem is that a lot of what is driving infestations inside your home is living above it, in the attic, in the eaves, in the soffits, and along the roofline where a standard perimeter spray never reaches.
Attic dusting is the solution to that. It is a service I offer that no other pest control company in Brevard or Indian River County provides, and after over 20 years of working in this area I can tell you it makes a significant difference, especially for Smoky Brown cockroaches, carpenter ants, and the trailing ant species that nest above the living space and work their way down.

How It Works
Most attic treatments, when they are offered at all, amount to someone poking a duster into the access hatch and applying dust to whatever is within arm’s reach. That is not how I do it.
I use a specialized modified blower that lets me direct a controlled stream of insecticidal dust from the attic access point toward the eaves and into the voids along the roofline. From there, the air currents I create carry the dust throughout the entire attic space, settling into a light, even layer across every surface, every crack, every void, and every harborage area in the attic. The label calls for a light application, and this method applies exactly that, distributed evenly across the whole space rather than concentrated in one area near the hatch.
The whole application takes just a few minutes once I am set up.
A couple of things worth knowing before I come out. If your attic access is inside the house, you do not need to leave, but you should stay out of that room while I am working. I wear a mask during the application, and the dust can make the air temporarily hazy in the room below. I have set off smoke detectors before from the dust alone, so it is good to be aware of that. It clears quickly, but I want you to know what to expect going in.
Why Delta Dust
The product I use for every attic dusting is Delta Dust, and there is a specific reason for that.
Delta Dust is the world’s only 100% waterproof insecticide dust. That matters in Florida because attics here are humid. Most insecticidal dusts absorb moisture, clump together, and lose their effectiveness within weeks of application. Delta Dust does not clump, does not absorb moisture, and keeps working long after application even when conditions get damp.
The active ingredient is deltamethrin, a synthetic pyrethroid that kills insects on contact and continues working as a residual long after it is applied. One application provides up to eight months of long-lasting pest control when left undisturbed. In an attic that is not being disturbed regularly, that protection holds.
Delta Dust controls ants, carpenter ants, cockroaches including both resistant and non-resistant strains, bees, carpenter bees, bed bugs, carpet beetles, centipedes, crickets, fleas, firebrats, millipedes, scorpions, silverfish, spiders, sowbugs, termites, ticks, wasps, and more. In a Florida attic, that covers virtually everything you are likely to find up there.
It is also odorless and non-staining, which matters when you have belongings stored in the attic. Christmas decorations, furniture, seasonal items, boxes of things you want to keep but do not need every day. The dust settles in a light layer that gets into the spaces where pests are actually nesting and traveling without affecting anything you have stored up there.
What Attic Dusting Is Especially Good For
Smoky Brown Cockroaches
Smoky Brown cockroaches are strong fliers and are drawn to humidity, which makes attics, soffits, and rooflines some of their favorite nesting spots in Florida. A standard perimeter treatment does not reach them up there. Attic dusting does, and it addresses the infestation at the source rather than just killing the ones that make it down into the living space.
Carpenter Ants
Carpenter ants nesting in attic wood is one of the more damaging pest problems in this area, and it often goes undetected until the damage is significant. Delta Dust distributed throughout the attic gets into the voids and galleries where carpenter ants are actually living and kills them directly. If you have seen large black ants inside your home, there is a reasonable chance they are coming from above.
Trailing Ants
Ghost ants, Argentine ants, white-footed ants, and other trailing species commonly nest in attics and travel down through wall voids into kitchens and bathrooms. Treating the attic removes the colony rather than just the workers you see on the counter.
General Attic Pest Pressure
Florida attics are warm, humid, and often undisturbed for long periods. That makes them attractive to a wide range of insects. A single attic dusting treatment creates a long-lasting barrier that keeps pests from establishing themselves above your living space.

FAQ’s; Pest Control Attic Dusting, attic dusting pest control treatment
What is attic dusting?
Attic dusting is a pest control method where our technician applies a fine, dry pesticide in powder form throughout your attic. This dust targets insects by:
Reaching hidden areas: The dust gets into cracks, crevices, and other spots where insects like to hide. Since attics are often cluttered with insulation and storage items, a dusting treatment can reach areas and get rid of pests in attic that might be inaccessible with sprays or liquids.
Long-lasting effect: The dust sticks around for a long time and continues to kill insects that come into contact with it. This helps prevent new infestations.
Targets specific pests: It’s typically effective against a variety of common household insects like ants, roaches, silverfish, and spiders.
Effectiveness: Attic dusting is a common and effective way to control insects in attics, especially when combined with other pest control methods.
What is the difference between attic dusting pest control treatment and fumigation?
Attic dusting and fumigation are both methods of pest control. They are both effective at eliminating pests from an attic, but they work in different ways.
Attic dusting involves using an electric blower to disperse insecticidal dust throughout the attic. The dust is designed to kill pests on contact and provide long-lasting protection against them. Attic dusting is a relatively safe and affordable pest control method, and it is effective against a wide variety of pests.
Fumigation, on the other hand, involves using a gas to kill pests. The gas is released into the attic and allowed to circulate for several hours. Fumigation is a more effective method of pest control than attic dusting, but it is also more dangerous and expensive.
How long does the attic dusting take?
Once set up, the process of blowing the dust into the attic only takes a few minutes.
Can I be home while my attic is dusted?
Yes, we do not blow dust into the living quarters of your home.
Is there a smell associated with attic dusting?
No, there is no smell.
Is using a bug bomb the same thing as attic dusting?
No, bug bombs, also known as foggers, are only capable of keeping pests away for a few weeks.
